Praida da Galheta is located nearly 20 kilometer from downtown Florianopolis which is accessible via a trail that starts at Praia Mole’s north end. Praia da Galheta is situated right in the middle of two other popular beaches of state of Santa Catarina i.e. Mole beach and Barra da Lagoa beach. The beach is a 10 to 15 minutes walk from Praia Mole. The beach is approximately one kilometer in length which white fine sand covering it. Steep hills which are covered by low bushes border the beach. To add more to the tranquility the beach has no houses or any other structure in its vicinity. The only sound one hears is the one of waves that breaks on the wind and the beach. Praia de Galheta is a popular destination with naturists since the 1970’s as it allows nudity although it is not must. Associacao Amigos da Galheta also known as AGAL is a non-profit organization which promotes naturism in this beach. But the naturists do take care that they practice nudity only in appropriate areas. Nature plays a pivotal role in the lives of naturists and this is one of the reasons why they think that they owe responsibility in preserving nature and do so to protect it. Over the years the naturists have guarded Praia da Galheta from pollution and other environmental perils by clearing the debris from the beach, stopping illegal construction, preventing illegal use of land and replanting of destroyed vegetation.

Praia da Galheta also serves as important archaeological site yielding evidence that human beings inhabited this area for approximately six thousand years. The beach is also popular with surfers as it gets reasonably good waves which is consistent throughout the year. The surf frequency is about 150 days per year. The waves are powerful, fast and a fun to surf. The normal length of the waves is 50 meter to 150 meter and can be as long as 150 meter to 500 meter on a good surf day. Praia da Galheta is crowed on weekdays and overly crowded on weekends. The beach has no restaurants sticking to its title of naturist’s beach although there is a water fountain providing fresh water to drink. With plenty of beautiful nude Brazilians to see, nice and clear waters Praia da Galheta is definitely one of the best beaches of Florianopolis. .
