Lagoinha do Leste beach is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. The landscape of Lagoinha do Leste beach is filled with sprouting lagoon, fully formed waves, mesmerizing beauty and the company of the friendly locals. Positioned between the Matadeiro beach and Pântano do Sul beach, Lagoinha do Leste beach can be reached by walking, by boat, helicopter or trekking in forty-minutes. It has a small lagoon at one end with warm and clear waters and is a perfect spot for swimming. Other features apart from beach and lagoon, which make this place even more interesting, are waterfalls. The spectacular sight of the wet sand, floating seaweed and the crystal-clear water of the Lagoinha in the moonlight is something that is captured by the eyes forever.
Lagoinha do Leste is small and very close to nature with fewer facilities, especially meant for eco tourism. Hence, the best way to reach this place is by foot, because of the absence of roads. This is one of the rituals to feel next to nature. There are two routes which can be taken and out of which, the one which starts at the Pântano do Sul is the fastest and the most opted for. Pedregoso is the nature of the soil, with irregular surfaces which should be watched for while walking. Once the ascent is crossed, the beautiful sight of the Lagoinha leaves the onlooker surprised. Other route starts from the Armaco beach or the Beach of the Scaffolding. First a stream should be crossed till the beach of the Matadeiro is reached. From there the tracks will lead towards the hillside located near the North-South highway and then to the Lagoinha Costao. Travelling time by this track is two hours.
The Municipal Park of Lagoinha was built in 1992, in Florianopolis, spreading exuberant beauty over an area of 453 hectares. Because of the close proximity with nature it is against the law to hunt animals, collect plants, use automatic machines, and carry out construction of any type in this area. Also, the tourists must not pollute the area by dumping bottles, plastic cans, bags or any kind of debris. In spite of these warnings, the area is still littered, because of which the locals have wild support movement to clean the beach & the park and collect up to fifty bags of garbage in a day.
Since this place is isolated from urbanization, the tourists must carry their own food and drinks as the place lacks restaurants and bars. They must also carry the waste, produced by them, back and not litter the place. A cigarette stub is also considered as garbage and shouldn’t be discarded in Lagoinha do Leste. Cotton clothes and solar protectors should be used to keep comfortable through the journey to the beach. Moving in groups especially at nights is considered safe.
